FIRST CONDITIONAL

If + present simple, ... WILL / WON'T + infinitive


It's used to talk about things which might happen in the future. Of course, we can't know what will happen in the future, but this describes possible things, which could easily come true.

  • If it rains, I won't go to the park. 
  • If I study today, I'll go to the party tonight. 
  • If I have enough money, I'll buy some new shoes. 
  • She'll be late if the train is delayed. 
  • She'll miss the bus if she doesn't leave soon. 
  • If I see her, I'll tell her.

GRAMMAR - UNIT 1 - WILL & GOING TO

WILL


We use WILL in the following circumstances:

1. For things that we decide to do now. (Rapid Decisions)

This is when you make a decision at that moment, in a spontaneous way.

I'll call a taxi for you.
I think we'll go right now. (I just decided this right now)
Which one? Um, I will have the chicken sandwich please.

2. When we think or believe something about the future. (Prediction)

This can be based on opinion.

The President will not be re-elected at the next election.
I think it will rain later so take an umbrella with you.
I think you will find the movie interesting.

GOING TO


We use 'going to' when we want to talk about a plan for the future.

I'm going to see him later today.
They're going to launch it next month.
We're going to have lunch first.
She's going to see what she can do.
I'm not going to talk for very long.

Notice that this plan does not have to be for the near future.

When I retire I'm going to go back to Barbados to live.
In ten years time, I'm going to be boss of my own successful company.


We use 'going to' when we want to make a prediction based on evidence we can see now.

Look out! That cup is going to fall off.
Look at those black clouds. It's going to rain soon.
These figures are really bad. We're going to make a loss.
You look very tired. You're going to need to stop soon.

Estimados padres o tutores:

Vuestro hijo/a va a comenzar la unidad 2 de su libro de Ciencias de la Naturaleza. Esta unidad tiene por título Nutrition (“Nutrición”), y en ella aprenderá:


El funcionamiento del aparato digestivo. Cuáles son los diferentes órganos implicados y qué ocurre en cada uno de ellos.
  • Primeros auxilios ante un atragantamiento.
  • El funcionamiento del aparato respiratorio. Nombre y función de las diferentes partes que lo forman.
  • El funcionamiento del sistema circulatorio. Las partes que lo forman y los distintos procesos que tienen lugar en la circulación de la sangre.
  • Principales células que forman la sangre.
  • Cómo funciona la excreción, tanto por parte del aparato digestivo como por parte del sistema urinario La importancia de tener una dieta sana y los problemas derivados del consumo de comida basura.
Quisiera animaros a que ayudéis a vuestro hijo/a a interiorizar los contenidos utilizando los recursos del CD y la Plus Zone. Asimismo, os invito a que le pidáis que os explique qué tipo de ser vivo es vuestra mascota (o la de un familiar o amigo).Sin duda, vuestra colaboración ayudará a que vuestro hijo/a aprenda y se divierta.
